Corporate-wide Ethics and Integrity E-learning Programme

Who?

An international quality assurance auditor company

What?

Business ethics and integrity

Where?

Global application across over 1,000 offices and laboratories worldwide in multiple languages.

Aims:
  • To reinforce awareness of the potential integrity risks affecting the company’s business
  • To develop understanding of the company’s Code of Conduct and its implementation across a wide range of potential business sectors and business interactions.
  • To deliver relevant training economically and effectively to more than 46,000 employees worldwide, with a capability to test learning effectiveness and knowledge retention.
What the client needed:

As a quality assurance company the client’s reputation and standing as a leader in its field are clearly at risk unless their own staff adhere to and clearly demonstrate the highest standards of business practice and ethical conduct in the way they go about their work.  Ethics and integrity awareness training was seen as an essential risk management step, and as a means of ensuring a corporate-wide understanding of the impact of individual actions and of the standards expected and required of all staff in their conduct at work.

What we provided:

We designed, wrote and built a modular e-learning programme containing approximately 45 minutes’ worth of general learning content for all staff, plus a further 45 minutes worth of tailored, business-specific and function-specific case study material.

The programme’s four main modules addressed a) the importance and relevance of integrity issues in the context of the client’s business; b) an understanding of how people define and perceive ethical behaviour; c) rules governing staff members’ conduct and behaviour; guidance on how to identify and respond to potential integrity issues as they arise in day-to-day business.  Via a user learning management system, the client was able to identify who had and had not completed the required training.  A learning assessment facility, linking test performance and results to unique user names, was also used to test individuals’ ability to answer a range of randomly selected questions about corporate rules and standards and their implementation across a range of business situations.

What was achieved:

Following a successful launch of an English version of the programme, we subsequently produced further versions in French, Chinese and Spanish.  The programme was rolled out successfully to all the clients employees worldwide.  The programme structure proved resilient and able to accommodate widely differing system specifications as it was rolled out globally. The client has, via learning assessment data, been able to identify and manage potential high risk areas via additional training as appropriate.
